Sak Yant Stick n Poke
So this isnt exactly DIY, but thought it might be interesting for people to see anyway. Whilst in Thailand I received some sacred Sak Yant tattoos, they are buddhist tattoos for protection. They were done with a 12” long steel rod which had been filed into a needlepoint at one end.
edit: it’s great to see more traditional work

(like what is an s&p, what ink, etc)
i also just went through and tagged all of our questions as “ask” just for future reference.
and don’t forget to keep submitting!

stoner-atheist-swag asked: For the follower that asked about using a homemade machine, practice on a banana peel. All homemade tattoo guns are going to act differently. So you need to get a feel for your gun by practicing on the banana peel.

Anonymous asked: When you said don't exceed 1/8th. Is that like, of an inch? because I'm pretty sure I'm not going anywhere near that deep. I'm actually worried that my poking's too shallow.

Anonymous asked: I've been practicing without ink for a few days and hoping to give myself a small tattoo this weekend but I can't tell if I'm poking deep enough/ my needles are sharp enough. Whenever I do like a line of dots, about 20% of them don't even seem to bleed. Any advice for knowing how deep to go/how to break the skin?
